Temperature arrow moving around 90 C

Today while I was driving I noticed that the temperature arrow on my 147 is at 90 C exactly and a moment after that while waiting at a traffic light it went down to 2-3 mm below the 90 C mark. Once I got moving again it went up again to 90 C on the dot.

Shouldn't the arrow stay exactly at 90 C or at least around it and not move so often?

Maybe it's nothing but I just want to ask.

It will move around a little.
I don't know what "2-3mm" actually relates to on the 147 gauge, but probably not a lot.

I really wouldn't worry about it - that illustrates, as above, thermo etc all working properly. You need to worry when it stays lower than usual or when iit rises like there is no tomorrow and just doesn't move downwards.

All is well!!!

Alfa temp gauges show the 'actual' temp of the engine - although they are normally fairly inaccurate.. so they do move up and down.

Other cars show the averaged temp, which is why they stay stable.

All engines fluctuate as the thermostat opens and closes.. all alfa does is show you whats actually happening.

since I got my new rad the temp moves about all over the place but always stays within a given area so its nothing to worry about, the rad I have is a cheeper one that has bigger cores and It has + fins instead of the normal z type but I would imagine it could even take a stone to the front as it looks and feels a tough as hell
