approx bill for checking valve guides - v6
Mine has a long running consumption problem and is annoying but not catastrophic. I've tried seal conditioner and more viscous oil but to no avail. The Timing belt snapped and the previous garage wrote 'timing belt snapped - head work' in the service book but I've no idea what they did. My current garage have done an emissions test and they are perfect, so the next test would be compression, but there's not a lot you can tell without taking the head(s) off and seeing if a valve guide isn't seated correctly etc. How much would this cost? I've heard figures of £1000 mentioned, which is pretty steep, although it's a lot of work.
Is this about right?
