Drivers side window

My drivers side window is stuck fast. The motor works but window won't budge. Been told I have to take all the bolts out??? How do I actually get to the glass itself?

Many Thanks

You have to remove the door card - do a search on here for how-to....

If the motor is running, but the glass won't move, then the wire for the mechanism will have snapped - although in that case you are lucky that the window hasn't dropped. Assuming this is the case, the best solution is a replacement complete mechanism - replacing the wire is a PITA, and there are plenty of second-hand mechanisms available. You need to ensure that the glass will move in the runners, though - clean alongside the glass and use a silicon lube in the runners.

Does the motor run?

If so, see above, of not, the glass could be jammed in the guides, or the overheat protection circuit is fritzed.

If jammed, silicon spray or GT85 to help release.

I'd suggest going along to a motor sparky with the door panel ore removed to ask for an estimate to fix it. They'll need to take a look and will probably be able to offer a quick fix if possible, or condemn the mechanism or the motor. Either way a new mechanism inc motor is about 30 from a breaker.
