And so I went to Autolusso (Dunstable) after reading so many great reviews about them.
I had been thinking about this for quite some time, but that was not just a small trip : living 30 miles south of Paris, it would be something like 7 hours including the Eurotunnel !
I left last Friday after lunch and drove north. I really enjoyed the trip : me and my Alfa, great weather (or at least not so bad). This was my first time in the UK, and I had heard so many stories about driving on the wrong side of the road
(funky roundabouts mostly!). It went pretty well, nothing really strange in the end.
I had looked for an hotel as close as possible to Autolusso, and had found a small motel in Dunstable : next time, I'll choose something else
Really made me think about those sh**y motels in the old movies...
I met Ned and the team on Saturday morning, had booked for a full service including Cambelt kit, variator, waxoyl treatment !
Just to say it was a very pleasant experience : great team, excellent work, and great price !
All in all, including hotel, Eurotunnel, sandwich, fuel : ~1100 Euros.
Just as comparison : Cambelt kit replacement in Paris or its surroundings (1h drive), without any other servicing, costs about 1300 Euros
Driving to another region, still costs around 1000 Euros. And you never know who's the guy working on your car.
I even talked to an Alfa dealer telling me that Cambelt on the JTS was 8 hrs labor...
Being able to watch the whole operation at Autolusso, I can tell you it was a 3h-3h30 max operation.
Anyway, I had a great time there !
