Something sounds a bit amiss here. My previous 2.0L T-spark used less than 1/2 litre every three months, except on initial run in when it used over a litre in the first couple of months. Averaging approx 1000 miles a month, mixed driving conditions.
My GTA uses much less, its usage is barely detectable.
I'm naievely wonder if general oil consumption may be affected at all by how the cars are run in initially , I owned both cars from new and ran them in pretty gently over the 1st 1000 miles so - I like to think they are rewarding me
Just a theory based on no science whatsoever.
Okay well maybe (bluffing a little here) the internal engine parts will have less friction if the car was run in gently, and also always high revs were avoided until a safe engine temp was reached.
I'd be interested to see if there was lower average consumption from people who owned their cars from new and felt they progressively ran them in.
..And there is no evidence of oil leak under your car when you park.?Wow thats a lot of oil going missing !
Mond you the car manuals in both my cases did say something like your car can use up to 1L per thousand miles or something, but I think all manufacturers give themselves some leeway here and thats the max expected.
