Any of the aux can do this if bearings are worn (but difficult to nail in any case). So can be alternator, power steering pump or A/C.
Check p steering fluid and hoses.
See if it changes when A/C on or off.
I had a rattle that was determined to be A/C compressor. Replaced by rebuilt.
I now have a (much lowder) rattle that comes and goes (and is cyclic - with the engine revolutions/cycle - as in: it is louder for a second and muffled the next - when at idle.). Replaced p steering pump for used unit but it remains. Replaced tensioner and yet she rattles. When aux belt is off - no rattle. I can make it disappear if I blip the throttle but then it comes back after a minute. belt examined to be fine.
So for me I guess it is the Alternator.
Cogito Ergo Zoom - I think. Therefore I drive fast.
