2.4 20v engine leaning out (fuel)?
My (2004) 156 has started to occasionally misbehave. On a steady throttle at say 30 mph it feels as if the fuel suddenly runs very lean for a few seconds and then sorts itself out. The problem is this is now becoming more common and after a long spell of unemployment I now have a job where I will do a fair amount of driving so need to get this fixed quickly.
About a month or so ago, after about 50 odd miles the power dropped dramatically below 2000 rpm but above this it was fine. Once the car had cooled down during lunch it was fine again.
Each time it has started to 'lean out' it has been during a relatively long journey i.e. more than 30 miles. The other issue is the problem is intermittent or to put it another way, I cannot replicate the issue at will.
Any ideas or suggestions
