Alfa Romeo 147 - Cambelt change at 5 years & 24k miles?

I just bought an 07 reg Alfa Romeo 1.9 JTD Collezione with 18k miles on the clock. As it is 5 years old, but has done very few miles, should I still change the cambelt to be on the safer side?

What else would it need doing? I have the service history, and all services have been low mileage services, don't think the cambelt was changed. I know the recommendation for cambelt change is at 60k miles or 5 years whichever is earlier...

Welcome to AO. Personally I would change it for a piece of mind.Although I can't comment on a diesel engine, I have owned two 147 TS. My first one had 18,000 miles bought in 2009 which was 8 years old and my current had 25,000 miles bought last year on 51 plate and both I change cam belt and service by and Alfa specialist.

Look after her and she will look after you and give you

What they said ^^

It's much cheaper than replacing the rockers, belt, water pump and injector seals when the old belt snaps... (voice of experience talking!)
