Re: 225/45/17 on 147JTD...advise needed
I am driving 215/45 R17 on our roads (I don't think Bulgaria could be so much worse
) and I am happy with it. I am even considering not so usual size 205/45 R17 for my next tyres. I think 215 is not a must for my 1,6l engine. And wide tyres are really heavy. If you have heavy wheels you are going to feel this more than +-5mm differece in sidewalls.
I dont think 225 tyre will touch anything, I have seen Alfa owners using this size.
225 has 9mm more in diameter as 215, that is +1,44%.
If you are really looking for comfort, have you considered 205/50 R17? They have 12mm more in diameter it is +1,92% comparing with 215/45. So your speedo should be still fine.
BTW: Maybe I missed some of your posts, but which wheels did you actually ordered?
