"Whining noise" gave me 15 hits - none seem to be applicable, however, hence this new whining thread - also, 16 is a nice round number and all that, especially when whining is concerned.
Anyway, I had a chance to drive my new 156 sw 2.0 JTS to Germany last weekend
(car was dirty, light was bad hence no piccies), so I took the opportunity to drive a little faster that I normally can in Holland
Around 150 km/h a whining sort of noise sets in that doesn't seem to go away
. Maybe over 190 km/h, but since traffic was fairly dense, I didn't dare go any faster...
At first, I thought that maybe it was the max-speed option that you can set in the trip computer, it was the kind of beep that I would have expected, although softer and a beeper with a bad case of the flu or advanced emphysema, hoarse, and a noise that keeps going rather that going beep beep beep.
A hoarse whining?
Drop the speed and the whining disppears; increase it above 150 km/h and back it comes. Could be an air pressure induced noise through the ventilation system or something similar. It does not really appear to be an engine noise. All readouts are normal, checked the oil levels and that's all fine.
What should I check? Anyone else experience this?
