Replace Water Pump at Cambelt Change?
Hope you are all ok.
Yes, my alfa 147 had its cambelt changed at 40,000 miles and is due its next at 76,000.
I've actually only done 65,000 but it has been 3 and a half years since the 36,000 (or 40,000) cambelt change so I thought I'd better get it done.
The question is, do I get the variator and waterpump chaged also?
I've decided not to get the variator changed because it doesn't sound too bad and a few months ago I had it cleaned out anyway with engine flush and Wynns Hydraulic lifter fluid on an oil change. The variator is pretty much silent and doesn't seem to cause any problems anyway. So decided to save £100 on that.
But the water pump. It has never been a problem for me and it looks fine. I just know that if it does fail, I'll be having a cambelt change again!
What are thew chances of waterpump failure? Is it worht having it done? My car is a 2004 model and has never had the waterpump changed before.
