Warning Oil Leak

Hi, I'm a new Alfa 147 owner, I was given my Alfa by my son, sounds great BUT... after ploughing through many little problems and getting through my MOT. my garage have said that they have to take off the cam belt to be able to see where my oil leak is coming from and that it would mean a new cam belt at 350 plus whatever is the oils leak problem! Anybody got any advise, I live near Newhaven in East Sussex, any good, reliable mechanics out there?

Sounds correct, i guess they are assuming its the crankshaft oil seal thats failed so they would need to take the pully and hence the cam belt off to get at it. Its bad practice to reuse an old cam belt as well.
