Hello fellow Alfa enthusiasts...My first post here regarding my Alfa 156 1.9 JTD Veloce.. Although there are mixed emotions...
Got the car through a local advert from a chap who had maintained the car well, drove it everyday to work. During my test drive the car was quick to start also on the evening I bought the car, couple of turns & it fired up. The battery in the car was an exide 62Ah battery.
The very next day morning, tried to start the car..strange sounds from the dash..abs failure..motor control system failure..slooooow cranking..and dying out.. Realised the battery went flat and got it jump started with the help of my house mate's car.
Booked it in at my local alfa specialist in swindon(wootton bassett). I did cross check whether I have the rev counter issue but that wasnt the case.. Alfa specialist checked the car for parasitic leakage but said all was OK, just needed a new battery. Although the previous owner said the batter was relatively new(looked new as well). That was my first week of ownership. Not a great start
So, 1 month in with the new battery..No dramas..Although i did notice that the new battery recently didnt fire it up right away recently as compared to when I got it new.. My daily run is 40 motorwaymiles..So plenty of time to charge it up... But its gone dead again.
Couple of points:
-The car has a custom stereo..but its wired with the ignition & I remove the faceplate overnight.
- The glow plug light blinks after starting the car..but on cold starts it sometimes does not.
