went for a test drive today and, things got complicated.
I went to Parkers in Hemel H and I they have been great. I had a look around the car, the salesman gave me the keys and told to go for a test drive on my own, I came back and there was no bullying into buying the car, just had an honest chat on possibilities and choices.
The car: I liked it! felt solid, well built an beautiful. Might be not ideal when we will need to fit in baby stuff but not impossible to leave with. The engine pulled nicely and didnt feel like the VAG PD where you get a good kick and nothing after that, definetly needs a remap focused on torque but still have a good out of the box feel. Handling, I would be better with some anti roll bars but feels good to start with. Interiors, not as nice as the 159 but simple and clear.
However... the wife did see a Giulitta in red with leather interiors which we both liked, 6K over budge but we started thinking that this might be more economical than owing 2 cars. This would be used mainly as a daily driver to do 1.6 miles round trip ( no, I can't walk it). Would a 1.4,1.6 petrol fall apart with this kind of use? I know that it is not healthy in the first place but we are currenlty using an MK1 KA whihc has been doing the job for 2 years with no issues..
