Since day one of ownership (with 7,000miles on the clock - now 69k) my JTD has made the above noise when pulling up and depressing the clutch. It will often continue when trickling along at idle as well.
You can get it no matter what the speed of approach, even when manouvering back and forth. A classic example is the 10mph bimble up the lane to my place. I wibble along in first (single track, potholes) at 1000-1500rpm to the accompaniment of the chinook noise. I pull up and depress the clutch. Noise continues. Rev engine slightly and it may or may not go. Ditto repeated depressions on the clutch may or may not clear it. Engage reverse and get "wubbawubba...." as I trickle back down the driveway.
It doesn't always happen either.....
The noise is accompanied by a slight vibration, as you might expect.
I'm convinced it's the release bearing or flywheel but wondered if anyone else has come across this? I'd like to see the back of it before I throw some cash at Alfanige and up the ante to 185bhp.
Of course it could be anything, including an engine mount.
