Re: & now i'm scared...
Right, I'm gonna be going with Alfa Queen's advice personally.
My 156 V6 has done 80,000 miles now with no such belt change.
Now then, I know what EVERYONE (Well, mostly everyone, lol) is going to say, that I'm crazy and need to get it changed ASAP.
I've been browsing the forums, and most of the problems don't seem to say 'My belt snapped and wrecked my engine!', but 'I got my belt changed and somethings wrong!'.
Not being funny, but I've been quoted £840 for the belt change and water pump change which needs to be done at the same time apparently. Sod that for a game of soldiers!
The belt has lasted the previous 80,000 miles and if it still aint gone by the 100,000 marker THEN I will get it changed.
I want to be the proof in the pudding that you haven't got to change your cam belt every 2 minutes.
If it DOES go between now and the 100,000 marker then all that's happened is I've been proven wrong and need to sped a few extra hundred quid on top of the price of the belt change to get an engine rebuild instead.
I say, if you've got higher mileage than alot of people, and still have the original cam belt, you've got yourself a good little cambelt.
The second people start ripping apart the engine seems to be the moment when a Thread is posted with a little sad smiley and a member complaining they've had work done and somethings amiss.
It would appear that people can get a belt change at 34,000 miles then 4,000 miles later it snaps and breaks their car.
I think I am going to be going with India on this one: Pray the car won't break on me, lol
Thats my 2p's worth anyway Bennett, make of it what you will, lol
