Supposing you were setting out to buy a car with the anticipation of running it to classic status, then the TS or a V6 would be a good bet.
Mine's a JTS because I wanted the facelift and a later manufactured car - never had a TS, but it's probably fair to say that in my experience it is less reliable. What this actually means in real terms is me having had to pay £800 or so for the injectors to be fixed, but nothing else beyond that. It sounds good for a four pot and drives well IMO.
They did make facelift RHD V6s but they only sold them elsewhere, e.g. the Middle East.
One thing I meant to say is that, with the exception of within the TS family (1.6, 1.8, 2.0), it is not financially reasonable to swap engines, whereas it is reasonable to swap panels.
