Still a relative newbie to fixing my own problems, and need some words of experience.
I put this in another thread but its getting ignored so started a new one. Anybody rectified this problem before and could offer advice?
Here is the message I got from FES (p0420):
Anomaly of the catalyzer functioning being detected in the signal emitted by the two lambda probes that are installed upstream and downstream of the catalyzer itself (with some equipments only);
check with exhaust gas analyzer and oscilloscope gases and signals of both probes before carrying out any replacements.
The reason for this fault is that ECU has received very high signal from the sensor. The fault is present now. Take appropriate action to fix this sensor fault. Dashboard warning light was activated for this fault.
Anybody got any recommendations? I've never done a running test of the car, my laptop battery sucks. I can use the misses's though. Just plug it in, select gas analyser in FES and drive?
Just clean the lambda's? New CAT?
Also recently changed the whole coil pack because I was getting a misfire on cylinder one. It made the problem go away, but now with this p0420, I'm getting misfire on all 4 cylinders. Could a fault with the CAt/Lamda's cause some type of blow back or something to cause a misfire?
