I recently brought an Alfa 147 1.6ts 16v with Variator.
Now looking through the service history its had a belt change at 50k and variator at 60K.
The care is currently on 90K (hence the cheap price i got it for).
Now it seems like its long over due for a cambelt change at least. Some fresh oil and filters.
So since its quite a large service I am gonig to do it myself.
I've worked on Fiat's HGT engines and 16v Fiat's before and completed cambelts on these. However I know I need a cam locking tool and TDC guage which you can buy from various sites.
While I am changing the belt. I take it the cambelt kits that are sold on Shop Part | Direct Buy at Shop4parts.com
are only the cambelt and tensioner and idler?
I take it it would be worth me changing the water pump, themost and Auxillary belt as well?
I'll buy the coolant and selenia oil as well while i'm there. So its looking like a good £300 with the tools included.
But I take it there's nothing special regarding the timing so long as you have the cam locking tool and TDC guage. The rest pretty straight forward?
Don't want to start stripping the car down to find I could have replaced something and then have to do it again.
Variator is ok and not loud on start up. The car's had oil and filter every 8000 on the service history.
