Continued to drive and it sorted itself out after five mins or so, then for the last few days it has been behaving fine, idling nicely, but then yesterday exactly the same thing happened on start up, though on return journey switched on and all good again.
Any ideas people?
God damn it *Bomber* now Alfenia is at it. She was going grand until yesterday evening when i left work at 7pm.
I sat into the car, turned the key, she hesitated starting & eventually fired & then DIED !!!!. 3 time sit took me to get her going, eventually a plume of *black* smoke enguffled her
....much to my embarrassment a Subaru WRX walked by laughing at me
So i stopped her & pulled the bonnet.
I removed the MAF connection & she started fine, but idled very irratically, bouncing from 500 to 1500 rpm. When on the move the car accelerated very well, better than when the MAF is connected. I went for a cruise on the M-Way. She flew up to 7200 rpm in the 1st 3 gears & was *mad to go* from 90 mph upwards, when in 5th.
Later I was coming back the same road with the MAF connected, it seemd 100% ok...... wierd
So my plan for now is to buy a carb cleaner product & re-clean the MAF in the hopes that it'll sort it once & for all.
I am not
going to spend anymor emoney on this car..... already in 3 months I have spend €1100, admittely 1/2 that was for a replacement timing belt.
