Hi Beam Blue light

Having searched thro here looking for posts with reference to the HI Beam light, blue in colour, that is displayed on the dash i could not find any posts.

My issue: Its too bright

Now maybe that say more about me that anything else but I find the blue light is too strong. When driving at night i place my hand on the steering wheel in such a way that it blocks the hi beam light.

Any ideas if this bulb can be repalced for a lower wattage or any other suggestions..... apart from drive only during the day

Re: Hi Beam Blue light

id imagine, like all the warning lights, its an individual LED soldered onto the circuit board

if u open up the dial, get the circuit board out and are handy with a soldering iron, you could put any color 3mm LED u wish on there

Open up the dial and insert a small potentiometer into the circuit that feeds the LED. You can then adjust using the pot before putting it all back together. Or get some neutral filter film from a camera shop and put a small piece of this into the light fitting- like putting shades on it.

Re: Hi Beam Blue light

The high beam light isn't a LED but a bulb in a holder (just like to ones that illuminate the rest of the rev counter). You may be able to get a lower wattage bulb. Halfords sell them in green, which would dull the blue light significantly but will discolour it a bit.

Nigel there couldnt possibly be a bulb in a holder for every individual warning light on the dial......there are only around 3 on the back

Agree totally that it's too bright! Can't be bothered to take bits of the dash out, just stick a small piece of coloured film over it
