OUOTE - By the way, why did you remove the badge from the bonnet, to decrease weight ?
Nothing to do with weight Jomor.I simply didnt like the way the standard bonnet looked with the badge so I had the bonnet custom made in Italy to the way I wanted it to look.I also made a custom/one off bumper grill for the car too.
Im a big fan of the wide/euro smooth look( cars with smooth wide bodywork,bigger/wider wheels and tyres.lowered right down to the ground and completely debadged).
And as I have already told u before the maranello bonnet has a very functional purpose(feeding cold air to that turboed engine and sucking hot air out thru the 10mm gap at the top). Its also has a gap of 10mm between it and the top of the scuttle panel and top of the front wings. Not just for looks u know.
The car will be put on my mechanics weighbridge when the bigger calipers, racing discs and bigger turbo are installed this weekend.I have to get it ready for the Brooklands Festival. It will probably come out lighter than the standard 147 as I junked those heavy/dull looking wheels, all that air con motor and rad crap and all the other junk like the throttlebody MAF all the pipework, airbox, rad and fan unit that came out of it.Plus the engine is lighter with all the skimming, blueprinting and lightened forged internals and the race clutch.flywheel and crank.
My 8.5 x 18 inch wheels weigh 7.1kgs (dry weight) with an offset of 35.Alot lighter than a standard 147 16 inch wheel which is about 8.5 kgs(dry weight) or there abouts. I run Falken FK451 - 225 35 ZR18 tyres.I find them very good with superb grip.
I think the dry weight for the 147 1.6 105bhp is about 1180-1200 kgs or there abouts,so hopefully my 1.6 litre 147 will be a little lighter than that while having 251bhp and 232 lb/ft torque.
I will let u know when its weighed. Thanks
Oh a pic of the bonnet just to remind u what it looks like
