Front suspension knock
I have a knocking coming from the front suspension of my 2003 156 JTS that was occasional but is now becoming more frequent, I have had new drop-link bushes, anti-roll bar bushes and top arms fitted recently for unrelated issues but the noise continues to become more and more of a problem. By it's very nature, and typically it has only done it a few times in the presence of my mechanic but it is taking some tracking down. It can get the sound during normal (i.e. up and down) suspension movement but by methodical experimentation I have found the most reliable way to provoke it is to 'lean' on the suspension whilst cornering hard to the right then turning left (for example negotiating and exiting a roundabout at speed). I do seem to remember reading a thread where someone had inserted 'shims' between the anti-roll bar mounts to stop sideways movement but can't find it, does anyone have the link, and could I be on the right track and sideways movement of the bar still be possible even with new bushes?
