My 2000 156 2.0L T.Spark doesn't sound sweet as she used to.
Replaced Exhaust Flexi-Section this year with Bosal as it went bust, took off exhaust manifold to engine block bracket as that was cracked.
since replacing that and changing my thermostat last year as the car was running too cold the engine has this horrid exhaust 'pinking' noise, either due to (My suspicions):
cracked manifold due to removing bracket, thus putting strain on manifold causing it to crack,
thermostat, running at a higher temperature also casing this to crack...
sound of the valves contacting piston...
ive uploaded two HD videos for you to watch and comment...
Also, the car feels under powered, doesn't accelerate like she used to, and the noise is getting slightly worse. the noise is most noticeable on cold start-ups and around the last manifold branch nearest to gearbox... but drives down the road smoothly
ive got a manifold to replace it with if you guys reckon its a cracked manifold, and i have got the manifold bracket welded and ready to re-fit with the new manifold.
but i am fearing the worst, and i am getting timing/bal belt W/tensioners done in the next month as the 3 years have nearly past.
any comments or suggestions much appreciated.
