Fussy Selespeed with oil level
My 99 2.0TS 156 Selespeed has an oil problem that I just can't work out!
After about 1000(ish) miles of trouble free driving my selespeed develops the old changing from 2nd to 3rd hesitating them dumping me in 5th problem.
I have worked out over the last few months that by putting roughly an egg cup full of Selespeed oil in the reservoir the problem goes away for another 1000m or so.
BUT if I fill the reservoir right up, it can take around 300 - 400 miles to settle down again. I have noticed that during this period is squirts most of the oil out of its breather pipe.
So by just adding the smallest of selespeed oil when the fault first appears it is fine for another 1000 miles or so. But add too much and it has to get the level down to what it wants.
How bizzare is that?
Also there are no obvious oil leaks (except from the breather if I over fill). Could it be a pump issue or just needs calibrating?
In addition to whether the car is fine or not I always get the flashing 5th gear at higher speeds.
I have had the car for around 30,000 miles and the problem has not gotten any worse.
