What's in your gutter?

Hi all

My 147 has obviously had a roof rack fitted at some point, and the little 'gutter' that sits either side of the roof above the doors (bad explanation I know) has been filled in with some metal strips. Problem is, these strips are silver as apposed to the Gab blue of the rest of the car - they're also a fair bit shorter than the actual gutter length, which makes me assume it was a bodge job at some point.

Question is, should this gutter be filled with black rubber or something? If it is metal strips, any idea where I can get some from?

It's the sort of thing that nobody looking at the car except for me would notice, but still want it right...
