Can replacing brakes cause clutch failure

I am a newbie on here but am hoping someone may be able to help me with a problem.

I have just had my Alfa 147 serviced and in the process have had new brakes fitted. on picking up the car the mechanic said they had 'lost the clutch' for a while after repairing the brakes but said that after bleeding the clutch it was fine but I should 'keep an eye on it' in case I had further issues.

So of course two days later the clutch has failed requiring me to get it towed back to the mechanic. The question I need answered from anyone who may know is can why repairing the brakes can cause a problem with the clutch, and I wonder if this would likely have occurred anyway. I am happy to pay the mechanic as they are eccellent but not too happy they let me take it if it was in any way dodgy. Does anyone know if the systems are linked ? or how this is possible ? or in fact if this can be caused by a mistake on the part of the mechanic. ? Any input much appreciated

The clutch fluid is shared with the brake system fluid, so if they've replaced this then that could have been the issue.

Regarding the problem reoccurring, might be worth checking for any leaks around the top of the gearbox, they may not have refitted the pipe properly after bleeding.
