GT - sidelight issue, is it my body computer
Ok, looking for any & all assistance here. My car is an 05 GT, V6
During a drive the other day the dash warning for a "right side light failure" came on, then went off, finally deciding to stay on.
I was surprised as I had upgraded both front sidelights to LED canbus a couple of years ago.
At home I checked and when the sidelights are turned on, they all work, and the dash warning will disappear. Turn them off and back it comes. So I wiggled all wires I could reach and sprayed some WD40 around, still the same.
Now the worrying bit, I noticed last night that there was a very faint (dim) glow from the front right sidelight LED after I had locked the car & walked away. Sure enough the LED sidelight glows dimly, it will eventually go out (I assume when the car fully powers down ?)
A bit of searching brings up similar issues on 147's with faint glowing sidelights indicating an error with the body computer. None of my searching showed this for the GT (is it the same body computer ?) and all were for the rear sidelight, not the front, and I think the light stayed on all the time.
Is it worth me attempting to change the sidelight bulb (bumper off, and lots of swearing again) or is it most likely the body computer? More swearing, this time at the price. Could it be a bad earth ? I can only see one obvious earth point the other side of the engine bay. where are the others hidden.
Any thoughts folks.
