I am thinking of buying a 147 import. It is brand new and is a good price.
Firstly, it is likely to have kilometers or Miles on the speedo?
Will the computer be in english?
What is term of the warranty?
Would there be any problems will local dealers performing warranty repairs on an import?
I am going to be asking the company these questions, but I would just like to arm myself with some knowledge beforehand.
where are you buying these imported italian beauties from matt? from a car hypermarket like i did?? or actually doing all the paperwork, trying to do it yourself?
i bought mine from Motorhouse in cannock, imported example from spain with full english specs. speedo is in miles, com is in english but warranty is 2 years instead of 3 years offered by main dealers.
i have been back to fix my bella without a single problem matt, they treat your car same as any other 147.
and the price i got was 11000 pounds brand new, around 3k off the list OTR price.
i have driven a lot of high performance machines and of course this car do not match any of the abilities of the cars i have tested but it has potential. out of all 1.6 Naturally aspirated unit wise, this has the best performance figures i think. i am sure some would challenge this but by looking at audis, BMW 1-series, 120bhp on the plate is not bad.
mine is the 1.6, sometimes i wish i have bought the 2.0 but thats me. if u are after something elegant and can stay calm while people challenge u at the lights then 1.6 is enough for all conditions.
under 3k revs hasnt enough pull and everyone knows this but it comes alive after that.
lastly i like to tell u i have see off old style A3 1.6, civic Lsi 1.4 and some other stupid cars in a straight drag
If it is in a hypermarket, then it is likely to have been imported from the EU. Check that it has a "certificate of conformity", which basically says that it conforms to UK specs (English read-outs, miles, temp in celcius and all that).
