Is my alternator on the fritz?
Everything is going swimmingly in camp Alfa, as usual. Replaced the clutch last month which near enough completely solved the nasty judder. It's like driving a new car!
Anyhoo - when I first got the car, the last owner had completely foobarred the rear speakers trying to get them out. So I took the opportunity to replace all four speakers and put a nice amp in below the drivers seat for a bit more oomph. At the time I had to fit two ground loop isolators to cut out the alternator whine and I thought it was a bit odd.
The other day I was fitting my new amplified aerial, running from the remote connection from the (standard Alfa) head unit, and it works great until you start the car, then the interference is so bad you can't hear the radio at all!
I am thinking there must be some really dirty power coming from the alternator, the voltages are all fine and steady but the alternating current it produces must be way off.
Do you think it's on its last legs, or is there a simple fix?
Need to get this sorted before the round trip to Monaco in July!?
