Lumpy tickover after over-rev!?
Alfa GT 3.2 - Unfortunately I accidentally changed down a gear instead of up when already on the red line. I let the clutch out momentarily then back in but the damage was already done!
I now have a slight vibration in the car on tickover and when pulling away in second it is not as smooth. I suspect I may have bent a valve or two on one cylinder which is then not firing and creating the lumpy tickover. The car still seems to run ok and it isn't noticable at higher revs but obviously I don't want to try realy putting my foot down until it's been looked at.
Any opinions of the likely problem.....bent valves, timing belt slip or something else?
What's the likely damage and of course cost to repair?
