Brakes - problem please help
Dear Alfa owners,
I have problem that I can’t solve for a long period of time.
My Alfa 147 1.9 jtd is in pretty good condition. But, brakes (as I assume) are squeaking incredibly!
From the beginning, after driving on a motor way, about after 45 min I started to hear a sound that looked to be coming from behind. Squeak like shopping cart. When I touch break pedal noise stops.
This sound becomes really loud so I immediately go to service and change brake pads and discs because rear ones was in bad condition.
I take brake pads Ferodo.
The pads were vary bad, squeaking when breaking and that is not going to go away, as guys in service shop told that will happen.
After that I changed pads, Ferodo again because everybody says that those are the best ones (if they are original although I doubt it)
In the beginning everything is going smooth. And then, squeaking again. In the beginning when turning, a sound comes, as I think, from front wheels. Sounds stops when touch break. After a while, you can hear sound even when car goes strait, and it is really loud. In service shop they said that I should…this is really hard to translate so please forgive me if I make some huge mistake… “abrade the edges” of the pads. I did that and also clean and lubricate sliders on calipers. After that, everything is the same. There is no change at all.
Everything point to front breaks but I am not shore any more. Is there something else that could make this sound?
If there is anybody who had similar problem and know how to solve it please help. Sand me question or recommendations on mail.
