OK injector removed, came out reasonably easy after a bit of a wiggle and some tugging.
Tip of injector covered in crud, quick spray with Carb cleaner, looks good again. I will send this one to Injectortune for proper cleaning and test.
The copper washer remained at the bottom of the injector hole and I couldn't see a way to get it out
. Fitted replacement injector and all fuel pipes.
Get out laptop and ELM 327 cable. Use FiatECUScan, go to injector code setting section and put in new code,click confirm. I then follow the advice and check the code has changed in the parameters section and .....
code hasn't changed. Follow the FiatECUScan advice and try again.. and again .... and again....
OK google 'cannot change injector code using FiatECUScan' and what comes up? This is a known issue with the ELM 327 cable and Yani says;
'There is a problem with the IMA coding function and ELM 327.
Please, try with a KKL interface.'
Why not put a note saying that in FiatECUScan so people don't waste their time trying to do something, following the instructions, getting confirmation the code has been changed - only to find out it hasn't
....OK and breath
Switch engine on ..... turns a few times then ....
Nice smooth idle, no smell of unburnt diesel
OK so time to get on ebay and order myself another
cable to use with FiatECUScan, a KKL one.
So remember if you are going to recode an injector, make sure you have a KKL cable and not the ELM 327 type.
