Hi Guys, I am interested in your opinions here. Here's the story. Unfortunately, some muppet has decided that it is a good idea to move my job 70miles away, fortunatley he is going to pay me for the privelage of driving to it
This means that I am now in a position to upgrade from my 156 1.6 twinspark sportwagon to a 156 JTD. Just interested to know your views here.
Is there any significant gains with the newer JTD over the pre facelift one? I have test driven an old 2.4 jtd. this was the first time i had driven an oil burner, and the power was crazy. It seemed to come in huge bursts of power. Is this still the case with the newer engine, or are they more refined?
Is it worth the extra cash to go for the 2.4 m-jet over the 1.9 m-jet?
Also, I was told a while back that if was to go for the old 2.4 JTD I should make sure it was in a veloce spec car because of the better suspension (heavy block and all that). Is this still the case with the facelifted 156 swagon or can i make do with the lower spec model (i think i can live without the dual zone climate control
although those 15" wheels would have to go!).
One final question - most oil burners can drive to the moon and back without problems, is this the case with the JTD? I have seen a 156 2.4 JTD pre facelift with 78k on the clock for very cheap in good condition. Should I stay well clear of that mileage?
I can afford the new faced cars, but if i can save some cash......
Thanks in advance
