GT 1.9jtd replaced inner cv joint but still have vibration
I have just finished replacing upper & lower front wishbones on my GT JTD due to wear, had my coilovers rebuilt and fitted new inner CV spider joints on both driveshafts due to extreme vibration during acceleration and off throttle which was diagnosed by Alfashop in Norwich.
The car was back on the road on Thursday and up until today the car was driving great! But on the way back from the postoffice this morning to tax the car the vibration is back. Just my luck.
I didn't replace the inner cups because there was zero signs of wear on the inside but the tripod/spider joints on the driveshafts appeared worn and the gaiter on the N/S was split with very little grease let in the joint.
I did however notice that on the passenger side the inner cup which fits into the differential has excessive play up and down.
Should there be any play on this joint? I guess the shaft on the inner cup is splined and there is an oil seal to keep the oil in the diff but what type of bearing is holding it in position? Does it sound like my diff is the problem?
