Idea Best Octane Petrol for 2.0 JTS

Full of questions today

I'm in the fortunate position of not needing to worry about the cost of petrol,(Dial Cards are wonderful things) so is there any noticable benefits to running a 2.0 JTS on super unleaded, performance, fuel economy (I don't care but the beancounters do)

Re: Best Octane Petrol for 2.0 JTS

My old 1.8TS used to run a good 10% more economically on Shell Optimax on a motorway run (but was no better round town...). It also ran cleaner at low revs and small throttle openings in high gears. As the fuel was about 6% more expensive, I used to use it when I knew that I was going on a run rather than just doddering around town.

When I got my JTS, I tried Optimax and it didn't seem to make a difference, but I've just tried it again and the fuel econoimy for a motorway run at 80mph has gone up from 32mpg to 36mpg! The trip computer actually shows an average of 39.0mpg on a run of 320 miles where I averaged 60mph.....

Even if cost isn't an issue, I know the TS ran better on Optimax, so I'd be tempted to use it if I could.....
