156 JTDm 150 Sport Radiator Replacement Tips?

Hi All, I am a newbie, but have been searching the site for 4 years and have found it very useful and amusing. By some miracle the radiator on my 55' reg JTDm has lasted until now, mostly due to various 'leak fix' additives over the last couple of years which have served me well, but it appears I am asking too much of them, and I can't delay radiator replacement much longer . Various threads on this site have given me the confidence to have a go at replacing it myself, but I have a few questions which if answered would help me greatly:

1/ I plan to use ramps. Is this a good way to raise the car for access, or would axle stands be better?
2/ Removal of the front bumper appears to be the favoured approach. With this removed, is there a need to also take out the intercooler (or anything else for that matter), or is it simply a matter of getting to the radiator and 'un-plumbing' it?
3/ Is there a recommended replacement radiator which doesn't cost a fortune? The latest Valeo aluminium rads seem to get good press.
4/ Are any 'special' tools needed?

Thanks in advance!
