Yes the thing in between the speedo and the rev counter. I tried to pull it out but it seems to be held by something, don't want to break something.

It's held in by three spring clips, one at the top and two at the bottom.
As I've not taken mine out, this is guess work only working on photo's I've seen of them, but I'd say to take out either the speedo or rev counter (or even both) get your hand in from these holes and press the clips in and push forwards at the same time. Hopefully the unit will come forward and out.
