Just had a problem fitting a cambelt to my car recently.Ordered Dayco kit, checked carefully that it was the correct one as you do,yes, fits JTD 2003-2010 models as well as a few Fiats,Vauxhall,Saabs etc.
At the same time decided too change auxillary, tensioners, idlers, water pump, even though they look ok its a false economy not to do the lot.Found that the crankshaft pulley was falling apart! Could have been serious so lucky it was caught in time.Only sign it was faulty was a faint "ding" every so often when engine was running as it clipped the cambelt cover.I am not used to diesel ownership, they all sound rough to me anyway.
Cambelt arrives, doesnt fit!! Turns out, looking at old belt says 198 teeth, new Dayco one was 199 teeth!!! Needed a new belt in a hurry as car stuck, unmovable now.A local part supplier had one and they say there are two belts for my model car,how crazy is that??How do you know which one you need??
Anyway jobs all done and car runs like a dream.Fitted an Italian box eco chip and car does 50mpg and performance is much better up from 150BHP to 190BHP,very lively not like a diesel at all.
Wonder if anybody has had this problem before??
