I have (well had) a 1.6 147, 2003. Loved it, reliable and no problems until last week, when with only 55k miles on the clock the cambelt went. New engine needed, so looking at getting another car instead of spending 1.5k replacing the engine.
I have found another 147, 2006, 1.9 diesel, 79k miles, cambelt changed 10,000 miles ago. I must admit though to being a bit anxious. I am wondering if getting a focus with a 1.8 derv engine that will probably go for 250,000 miles! I hear stories about the unreliability of Alfas. I always thought it was rubbish.... Until last week.
I guess I am looking for reasurance that if I go for the alfa, which I LOVE (such a good looking car) I'm not going to be left shopping for yet another car in a couple of years.
I actually only drive about 7000 miles a year.
