156 1.8 TS Throttle Problem & High Revs
I was driving home this evening and I noticed that the engine was reving at 2500 rpm, without any pressure being applied to the throttle. I 'blipped' the throttle, but the engine just reved up to 3000 rpm and stayed there - again without my foot pressing the throttle. Then, slowly, the engine ran down to a normal 900 rpm!
The same happened at the next few junctions, with the engine eventually slowing to 900 rpm and then appeared to operate normally.
This is the first time that this has happened. I did change the thermostat last week, but cannot see how the two would be connected - unless I disturbed something maybe!
Any suggestions? I note that there are a couple of threads quoting an 'ECU Reset' procedure, would that help here?
