Sudden Power Loss
I have a 156 1.8TS that has been running great since I bought it last August. Anyway, was driving this afternoon and I suddenly had no power! Absolutely zip! No matter what gear I put her in there was nothing there, the engine didn't want to rev at all for me. All it did was make a louder noise and go slower. After about 15 seconds of this the power returned but I pulled over to take a look anyway.
Once stopped I opened her up for a listed and a check and it all looked 100% really didn't seem like there was any issues at all. When driving again it was fine until 3rd gear, and fourth, and fifth... then I drop right back down and had no power in Second either!
Basically its like the engine is starved of something (fuel, air, spark) but I don't know what. I have heard that MAFs go is these from time to time however I disconnected the MAF and still the issue persisted (I mean the issue came and went with the MAF disconnected). I am now thinking that it could be a Lambda sensor but I don't know if these are the symptoms of that failing to be honest. The noise that I get when this happens is a much louder engine roar and a audible hiss when I rev.
Has anyone any ideas what this could be?
