New ECU + immobilizer ECU and no remote locking/alarm
I've lost my only key :-) and because alfa wanted a fortune for the new one (plus I had to tow the car) I decided to buy a second hand ECU + matching immobilizer box and a key.
Fitted it in, started the car ok, but the alarm goes off immediately and remote locking / disarming the alarm doesn't work. Key seems ok, I had exactly the same problem with previous set (and I returned it to the seller saying the key is probably faulty...). I thought that ECU and immobilizer box is enough to start the car and use remote locking/alarm; but I was obviously wrong.
Do I need to replace the alarm too? Is this happening because the alarm battery went flat...? (had main battery disconnected for ~6 months).
I think I need to "code" or "sync" the key to the alarm -- any ideas on how to do it?
It's 156 2.0 JTS, 2003.
I don't fancy driving it with the alarm on, and to tow it to the garage it will cost me 150 pounds :-(
Alternatively, anyone knows how to disable the alarm (fuse, etc?)
Thanks a lot in advance!
