Right, the clutch bites halfway along the pedal travel, with a very positive action, pretty much perfect!
To be honest,I was expecting the bite point to be higher,as I had read on here that can happen, with the smf conversion, but it is lower than before the change(old clutch and dmf were finished, though, about 7mm radial play!!)
The rear mount has given up,so Pud,you were right on the money! Thanks for the heads up
The only annoying thing I have found is when on really light throttle,ie not accelerating nor deccelerating, there is a noise like a loose heat shield, not loud, but noticable . . .possibly gearbox chatter? It is easily avoidable, though, either accelerate or don't!The car is easier to drive smoothly, now, too probably because there is no snatch in the drive train.(yeah a new dmf would have cured that, too!)
If I was going to change a clutch/flywheel again,I would have absolutely no problem fitting a solid flywheel converson,in preference to the dmf, just because everything feels 'connected' not like previous dmf equipped cars where I always felt slightly isolated from what was actually happening.
Now I have a question,I'm currently using Castrol universal 75w90,(the grade is the one on the label on the slam panel)is this the correct oil?I'm asking as I have a slight crunch between gears, when pushing on a little(lot
) . . . .any suggestions,hopefully not including changing the gearbox . . . . . . .
