156 still running hot!
Unfortunately the problem is still there despite our mechanic friend having checked it over and flushed out the radiator. The rad is quite new he says and since then I've found in the service history that the car had a new one fitted in 2010 and a thermostat around that time too. No sludge came out and he can't really see why it is running hot. The temp dial has divisions at 50 then another unmarked one (guessing this is 70) 90 then another unmarked one (110?) and the last one also unmarked. Once the car reaches working temp it seems to be at 90 and if you accelerate hard or stay at a constant 70+ then it reaches the 3/4 mark and has even gone nearly to the end on one or two occasions. The fan does bring it back to 3/4 but not really much less than that. Is this excessive for a 2.5 litre? Only other thing we can think of is the water pump but there's no squeaking noise.
The other problem which is a niggly one is a driver's airbag light on. We know the airbag works coz it's been checked on a diagnostic machine. Do we need a new ecu or can it just be reset? apparently, the guy who sold me the car let the battery run down and this has probably caused the light to stay on.
Anyone have any suggestions/answers?
