My 2000/W 156 (8 years old at the time) was as rotten as a carrot in many places, me and my brother spent a whole weekend welding it up.
Seems some are ok, where as others suffer. Floor, inner sills, inner of the front arches and chassis legs were where the places mine was affected, and the boot floor also had the beginnings of rust but was caught in time.
Having said all this my dad has just fitted a new front wing to his E46 Coupe BMW because it was rusty.
Manufacturers went all out to make cars last in the late 1980's and early 1990's. Maybe they have realised that the shorter the cars lifespan the more new ones they sell.
You will never be cool driving a Vauxhall.
