I'm hoping someone can help me with my 147. I've had it since new, 8 years and 100k miles ago, and loved (almost) every minute of it. A couple of months ago the car lost all coolant one morning after a long drive the night before. I filled the header tank with water and drove home the following day (300 miles, no problem). The following day the coolant had leaked out again (pink patch in the snow under the passenger side, in front of the wheel). I took her to the garage, they changed the radiator. The problem re-occured a few days later. I could see one of the hoses seemed to be weeping, back to the garage, they replaced the jubilee clip, couldn't see anything else wrong.
It's just happened again. I've not been doing many miles since all this started (about 400 in 3 months) but tonight I drove her for the first time in over a week. Within a couple of minutes of setting off the temp gauge was up, so I stopped, filled the tank, ran her for a while to check the temp was ok and drove on. I did about 40 miles, temp gauge varying a little under 90 but never over it. When I got home I stopped and started her a couple of times and she was very rough on starting, though evened out when I put a few revs on. She also smells really hot, despite the temp gauge being at 90. The oil is fine, and the coolant header tank is clean. No obvious signs of head gasket problems.
Other background info, quite a bit of steam in the exhaust on starting. Cam belt last done 36k ago.
I had hoped this was a simple radiator problem, but I've got a horrible feeling it's a lot worse than that.
