engine re-assembled & 2 bolts left over....big bolts!!
Hi guys, I'm re-assembling my engine gear box after front suspension after replacing the DMF, clutch kit, and both lower wishbones ,never done anything on this scale before, but after a lot of hours spent, and loads of helpful advice from here I'm nearly done. Everything's pretty much back on the car, or at least accounted for, apart from 2 big ass bolts with nuts! I don't recall taking them off, and I've searched and searched but cant see where they belong, which is worrying considering their size. I thought i'd made good notes when dismantling, but obviously not good enough. Anyone got any ideas where these bolts go? I'm sure it'll be blatantly obvious once someone points it out. Both bolts are identical, they are 7" long with an 20mm head that has TBS 8.8 on it, Thanks
wheels are back on! there not the lower wishbone to tuning fork bolts, there bigger than that. might be worth mentioning that I didn't drop the subframe when doing the gearbox. there not from something obvious like the wishbones, cos the car is more or less assembled and i haven't needed them?? also, I haven't replaced these bolts with new ones, I'd know due to the size of them. I haven't put any bolts back on of this size, the cars still on axle stands at the moment.
to be honest mate, without being near the car to check, I wouldn't like to say, I took that many bolts off I've lost track. I was following a guide I'd found online about removing the gearbox without dropping the subframe, I can't remember it instructing me to remove anything related to the steering rack?? I wouldn't need to would I?? but again, I cant be certain, the car and the guide I followed are at my parents workshop.
