First things first mate.
Have you checked the gearbox oil level mate?
It's best to get the car up to temperature first then check it on level ground in neutral with the engine ticking over, the gearbox dipsick is below the plastic induction tube in front of the battery. It could be slightly low on DEXRON III ATF... Do not overfill though!
Hessitation is not necessarily a gearbox issue (these Aisin boxes are bomb proof if the fluids are changed and kept topped up)
Try unplugging the MAF and take it out for a spirited drive. The car may stall or run rough at idle while its unplugged but stick with it as we need to see if the gear selection improves up the rev range. The MIL light will come on, thats normal and will go out once it is plugged back in.
If it improves while disconnected, I would suggest cleaningthe MAF (plenty of tutorials on how to) itself first to see if it rectifies the issue, but also think about why it has got dirty or failed in the first place... Usually down to an airbox lid leaking dirty air past the filter.
When you put the Q-system in H pattern mode it automatically puts the system in "sport mode" so bear in mind that it will be a lot more jerky in down shifts etc compared to "city mode". That's normal and does require a slightly different driving style to get the best out of it, like driving more on engine breaking as opposed to using the brake pedal heavily.
Double check your battery terminal connections too, they could be loosing intermittent contact during aggressive gear changing which can often make it seem more violent than what it actually is mate
Let us know your findings and we will take it from there
