Warning Replacing heater unit

I have a leaking Heater Unit in my GT Coupe 3.2l., Have been advised to replace with 147 unit, ok!
In order to replace unit I think the dashboard has to be taken out, is this better completed by mechanic workshop or a panel beating shop. Hoses have been renewed , so replacing unit is last stage of repair. Any informed ideas. Cheers

If its like the 156's there is no need to remove the dash.

You need to do is drain the coolant from the system, approx 7 litres total.

Inside then remove the bottom panel under the heater matrix, held in place by 8 or 10 5.5mm screws, then open off the 2 pipes in the engine bay [ this can be quite a struggle ]. the heater simply slides out.

Fitting is the reverse of removal

be sure to get all air locks out of the system.
